Rolf Art is pleased to announce the opening of Rhizome, a group exhibition that explores the Amazon through a biocentric and biopolitical lens. Inspired by the concept of the rhizome developed by Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari (A Thousand Plateaus, 1980), the exhibition frames the rainforest as an insurgent territory: a living, decentralized network that defies its reduction to resource, commodity, or exotic backdrop.
In this light, the Amazon is presented as a collective body marked by territorial resistance, ancestral knowledge, and extractive violence. Like a rhizome, its life forms grow underground, weaving together the visible and the invisible, while disrupting colonial systems of control, appropriation, and order. The works in this exhibition do not depict a landscape—they inhabit it, challenge it, and claim it as a political subject.
Rhizome brings together four seminal figures in Latin American contemporary visual art: José Alejandro Restrepo (1959, Colombia), a pioneer of video art in Colombia and across the region; MAPA TEATRO (established in 1983, Colombia), a transdisciplinary laboratory of social creation rooted in the performing arts; Clemencia Echeverri (1950, Colombia), a master of the moving image; and Roberto Huarcaya (1959, Peru), a key voice in contemporary Peruvian photography.
The opening event will take place on Tuesday 29h of April 2025, at 6pm at Esmeralda 1353, Buenos Aires, Argentina. The exhibition, of free entry, can be visited Monday through Friday from 11am to 7pm, with a permanence until June 6th 2025.

Rolf Art se complace en anunciar la apertura de la exposición colectiva Rizoma, que explora la Amazonía desde una perspectiva biocéntrica y biopolítica.A partir del concepto de rizoma de Gilles Deleuze y Félix Guattari (Mil Mesetas, 1980), la muestra concibe la selva amazónica como un territorio insurgente: un entramado vivo, sin centro ni jerarquías, que resiste su reducción a recurso, mercancía o paisaje exótico.
Desde esta perspectiva, la Amazonía se presenta como un cuerpo colectivo atravesado por luchas territoriales, saberes ancestrales y violencias extractivistas. Como el rizoma, sus formas de vida se expanden bajo tierra, conectan lo visible con lo invisible, y desestabilizan las lógicas coloniales del control, la apropiación y el orden. Las obras reunidas en esta exposición no ilustran un territorio: lo habitan, lo enfrentan y lo piensan como sujeto político.
Rizoma reúne cuatro figuras clave de las artes visuales latinoamericanas: José Alejandro Restrepo (1959, Colombia) –pionero del videoarte en Colombia y en la región-, MAPA TEATRO (1983, Colombia) –laboratorio de creación social transdisciplinar– con un sólido anclaje en las artes escénicas, Clemencia Echeverri (1950, Colombia), maestra de la imagen en movimiento en Colombia- y Roberto Huarcaya (1959, Perú), referente de la fotografía contemporánea peruana.
El evento de inauguración tendrá lugar el día martes 29 de abril de 2025 a partir de las 18hs en Esmeralda 1353, Buenos Aires, Argentina. La muestra, de entrada libre y gratuita, podrá visitarse de lunes a viernes de 11hs a 19hs, con una permanencia hasta el día 6 de junio de 2025.
