Rolf Art is pleased to announce its participation in Artissima 2024, Italy’s most prestigious contemporary art fair, taking place from November 1 to 3, 2024, at the Oval Lingotto in Turin, Italy.
Rolf Art stands out at the fair with a double presence:
At Back to the Future sector, curated by Jacopo Crivelli Visconti and Heike Munder—dedicated to monographic projects by pioneering contemporary artists whose work has been pivotal in art history—Rolf Art presents a tribute to Argentine key radical figure Liliana Maresca (1951–1994), showcasing a careful selection of her most remarkable works in collaboration with Marcos Lopez (b. 1958), from the series Liliana Maresca with her artworks (1983) & form her last body of work & alive exhibition Public Image – High Political Spheres (1993).
Liliana Maresca (Avellaneda, Buenos Aires, 1951 – † Buenos Aires 1994) was a key figure who participated in the artistic scene since the early 80’s, starring the enthusiastic young bohemian that detonated Buenos Aires from the early years of democracy rapidly becoming an inflection figure, which initiates and develops many of the avant-garde that characterize the art of 90’s. Her body of works include painting, objects, sculptures, installations, performances and fotoperformances. Her artworks reflected the neo-dada spirit, the minimalist models and the conceptual strategies that dominated the art scene in the second half of the century in Argentina, crisscrossed with the iconographic repertoire of alchemy and the spiritual quests overall, braving her self by the technological resources that the era offer her, without ever forgetting the necessary poetic elaboration. In Maresca’s works exist the will to place herself outside the conventions and also the desire to point the limit to certain territories. These principles that had place her in a resistance plane, are the ones that had provided to her work with a unique substance.
At The Underground Cinema Artissima program, in collaboration with the Museo Gallerie d’Italia, curated by Irene Calderoni—project dedicated to film and video screenings— Rolf Art presents the work of renowned Argentine artist Silvia Rivas (b. 1957), featuring her iconic work Individual exercise from the Momentum series (2015). This exhibition project will be on view from November 1 to 3 at Gallerie d’Italia – Torino, Piazza San Carlo 156, Turin, Italy.
Silvia Rivas is a pioneer in the experimentation of video art, video installation, and delegated performance in Argentina and Latin America since the early 1990s. Her work serves as a confluence, or a deep bend, of reflections on figurative and embodied time: the internal perception of the present, surrounded by the weight of the past, the resistance of the future, and the inevitability of circumstance. Momentum captures the moment just before any event, highlighting the density of the imminent present moment, which is definitive.
We appreciate your interest and promotion of our exhibition proposal, and we look forward to welcoming you at the fair!
